When can I visit?

The Redwood Sky Walk sits inside the Sequoia Park Zoo and is open during regular Zoo hours. During the summer season (April 1 – September 30), the Zoo is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, with last entry at 5:30 PM. In the winter season (October 1 – March 31), the Zoo is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, with last entry at 4:30 PM.

The adventure segments are also apt to sway in minor winds, and visitors are likely to feel themselves, as well as others, moving across the bridges.

What is the Redwood Sky Walk made out of?

All material choices were made for safety, longevity, and ease of maintenance.

The Ascent Ramp and Launch Deck are wood structures with concrete foundations and a walkable and durable, non-slip tread surface called Dynaplank. The posts and handrails are redwood, and metal panels are infilled between posts.

The Redwood Sky Walk was designed with both earthquakes and high winds in mind. The structural members of the Ascent Ramp and Launch Deck were upsized to look and feel much more substantial, as well as to perform better in seismic and wind events. The bridges and platforms were designed and constructed using a factor of safety beyond the structural capacity of the trees, and additional attachments were added to increase safety.
